reminders to move
Reminders to Move (RTM) are on device alerts designed to nudge users to stand up and move, breaking up long sedentary periods throughout the day. I worked on this with a product designer, product manager, software and QA engineers, marketing, and customer support.
My role: visual/interaction design, data visualization, user testing

Alerts and celebrations were full screen modals with animation and dynamic text letting the user know how far away they were from their hourly goal. For this I explored various visual stills and worked with a motion designer for the execution.
After exploring existing patterns I was able to branch out to full screen explorations. With Blaze having the most visual real estate, I was able to have some fun exploring more substantial alerts and celebrations. All copy in these explorations is written by yours truly, including gems like "Two fifty, two shmifty"
blaze today app
The Today App is a part of the device experience similar to the mobile dashboard. The Hourly Activity all day stat shows the user at a glance where they are in hitting their goal for the hour or how they’re doing overall for the day.
After the feature was launched and documented, it was implemented on all future devices. This required my working with device design teams to oversee the final execution of the alert, celebration, and logic.
Hourly Activity is the mobile component to Reminders to Move. It gives users a sense for how active vs stationary they are during the day, surfacing potential areas of improvement.
HOURLY ACTIVITY | HISTORY PAGE
The data visualization here allows the user to actually see what hours of the day they are most sedentary. This enables the user to take action during the most important times, while giving positive reinforcement when they're doing awesome.
HOURLY ACTIVITY | DETAIL PAGE
This screen allows the user to see more granular details of their hourly activity as well as compare their longest stationary period to their 30 day average. This way users can track their progress over time.
HOURLY ACTIVITY | onboarding
Another big piece of this was the onboarding, teaching users what the feature is, how it works, and why they should care.
